“Moondance”: The Van Morrison Songbook
Featuring Tiller’s Folly’s Bruce Coughlan winners of 2024 ISSA(International Singer Songwriters Association) top male vocalist as Van
“Gloria” | “Brown Eyed Girl” | “Moondance” | “Domino” | “Into The Mystic” | “Wild Night is Calling” | “Have I told You Lately”
& many more of everyone’s favs
Mystic Celtic Soul singer and songwriter, Van Morrison has placed his indelible stamp upon Western Music culture with a career spanning over half a century!
In “Van the Man” Mr Coughlan, Bruce, brings one of his major influences to life with an uncanny ability to make you shut your eyes and think the great Van is in the room.
As well as being an award winning singer and songwriter with groups like Bare Facts, The Hitops and Tiller’s Folly, Bruce has long been recognized as one of great vocal interpreters of our time. In this show he puts all of that experience and interpretive skill into sharp focus as “Van The Man”.
Joining him on this journey is right hand man and 30 + year partner bassist Laurence Knight (Tiller’s Folly, Foreman Young Band, Shari Ulrich, Roy Forbes, Doucette, Long John Baldry). These two have been touring for decades and receiving thunderous ovations from Nashville and The UK to across their Canadian homeland.
Laurence and Bruce specially picked a stellar cast to bring this show to life featuring some of Vancouver’s most in demand musicians with a few of their more illustrious credits.
Guitar, keys and sax is Adam Rohrlick (Michael Buble, Colin James, Dr Strangelove); Sax and vocals Karen Graves (Diana Krall, Temptations, Long John Baldry); Trumpet, guitar and vocals Kyle Axeford (Whiskey Dicks, Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra); Drums and vocals sometime bandmate Greg Stuart (Frank Mills, Bo Diddley)
Be prepared to be totally entertained as “Van the Man” brings with the utmost respect, energy and joy this great icon’s career to life.
He emerged in the early 1960’s as vocalist for Irish Blues group Them. Even in the early days, Van Morrison had a distinctive sound, and he laid down his uniquely expressive vocal lines with confidence and soulful conviction. So convincingly that songs like Gloria, Here Comes the Night and Baby, Please Don’t Go are still staples of Classic Rock & Blues radio stations world-wide!
And then in 1967 came Brown Eyed Girl, one of, if not the most iconic sing-along songs of the last century! Although wildly popular and widely considered his signature song, Brown Eyed Girl hardly begins to define Morrison as an artist.
Over the next five years, Van “the Man” would release some of his most ground-breaking and influential work, combining Celtic inspired imagery with an original blend of Blues, Jazz, Folk and Soul Music styles.
In 1970, Van Morrison recorded two albums: Moondance & Van Morrison, His Band and the Street Choir. From these two albums alone flowed a stream of enduring classics: And It Stoned Me, Moondance, Crazy Love, Caravan, Into the Mystic, Blue Money, Domino & I've Been Working.
In the half-century to pass since, Van Morrison has continued to write, perform and produce his distinct brand of Rhythm & Blues
Vocalist Bruce Coughlan (Tiller’s Folly) fronts this six-piece music revue performing our picks of Van Morrison’s most lively, engaging and best loved songs!
Included in the revue are Bruce’s Tiller’s Folly bandmate Laurence Knight (Bass and Vocals) and a great cast featuring Adam Rohrlick (Keys, Guitar and sax), Karen Graves (Sax and Vocals), Greg Stuart (Drums and Vocals) and Kyle Axford (Trumpet, Guitar and Vocals) or Geeta Das (trumpet).

Wannabe
We are WANNABE...
Wannabe has been thrilling audiences and blowing the roof of concert venues across North America for the past 10 years. With giant personalities, mega-watt singing voices, spot-on choreography, costume changes, English accents and platform shoes, these powerhouse women have brought Girl Power into the 21st century with their larger-than
life epic shows.
Wannabe is the brainchild of a group of Toronto based performers and musicians who also just happen to be best friends. The idea for Wannabe was born one summer when the girls were crammed in a house together performing in a summer musical, right around the start of 90’s nostalgia. The girls went to work. After an intense period of “Spice Girls Training”, which included studying concert footage and music videos, creating choreography, arranging songs and harmonies, assembling a six-piece backing band, and rehearsing for several months, Wannabe was ready to hit the stage for what they thought would be a one-off concert for friends and family at the legendary Toronto venue, The El Mocambo. They were wrong. The show sold out and the band hasn’t looked back since.
Wannabe has grown to become one of the most sought after acts in North America, selling out concert halls, theatres, clubs, casinos, outdoor festivals and more. As the band has gained popularity, the shows have expanded to include not only Spice Girls songs, but hits from other 90’s superstars including Brittany Spears, Janet Jackson, and Madonna.
The girls have appeared on stages alongside legendary 90’s acts including TLC, The Goo Goo Dolls, Aqua, 98 Degrees, O-Town, Lance Bass (N’Sync) and Aaron Carter.
Wannabe is as close to the real thing as you’re ever going to get.
Wannabe is Barbara Johnston, Suzy Wilde, Anika Johnson, Jaz Fairy-J and Cat Merriam.

This is a great Mother’s day gift!
About the show:
THE BELLAMY BROTHERS: THE LOVE STILL FLOWS… Howard and David continue to prove that the trail they’ve ridden to fame has been as unique as their music itself—music that is now celebrating 40 years of success.
The road that started on the pop music charts in the ‘70’s, took a winding turn into country music in the ‘80’s, paving the way for duos to come, such as Brooks & Dunn, Montgomery Gentry, Big & Rich, and previously—The Judds. But before the road forked into country, the musical odyssey of brothers Bellamy started creatively smoldering in their home state of Florida, before exploding nationally amidst the ’70’s pop music culture of L.A.
The brothers first official gig was in 1968, playing a free show with their father at the Rattlesnake Roundup in San Antonio, Florida. They honed their early skills playing black clubs throughout the south, and singing backup for artists such as Percy Sledge, Eddie Floyd, and Little Anthony & The Imperials. Within a few months, the brothers moved north, immersing themselves and their rock/country sound in the Atlanta market, where the Allman Brothers were the emerging kings of the music world.
With the dawning of the Age of Aquarius on the horizon, and America embroiled in a smoke haze of drugs, civil unrest and an unpopular war, The Bellamy's music picked-up the hard driving edge that bespoke the times. Songwriting had become David Bellamy’s drug of choice during the long road gigs he and Howard were regularly pulling bodies and equipment to and from. It was his songwriting that was posed to soon provide the duo a national breakout.
The break came in the form of the hit, “Spiders & Snakes,” written by David and recorded by Jim Stafford. The song became a smash, eventually selling more than three million units worldwide. It became the catapult that rocketed the brother onto the L.A. music scene. Young and impressionable, Howard and David fell into the musical circle of the greats of the day: Bob Dylan, James Taylor, and Van Morrison, as well as West Coast based country rockers like Poco and the Byrds.
It was a creative shoe that fit.
Now known by their music and the company they were keeping, The Bellamys officially lifted off the launch pad in 1976 when their single, “Let Your Love Flow,” became an instant smash in both the U.S. and Europe. It stayed on the international charts long enough to build a huge international fan base for the hip young brothers that endures to this day. In Germany alone it perched at #1 for more than two months. The love was indeed flowing as The Bellamys jammed for audiences on their sold-out concerts and shared stages with the likes of Loggins & Messina, the Doobie Brothers, and the Beach Boys., with their patented blend of rock/country music.
True to their musical roots, their style and their songwriting was moving steadily more towards their raising. By the late ‘70’s The Bellamys were emerging on the country charts with another bona fide smash. “If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me),” originally scrawled on a dinner napkin by David, rocketed them to the top of the country charts the way “Let Your Love Flow,” had done in the pop market just a few years earlier. It proved to be the first of a string of fourteen #1 singles in the U.S. alone.
Success followed success: “Dancing Cowboys,” “Sugar Daddy,” “You Ain’t Just Whistlin’ Dixie,” “Lovers Live Longer,” “Do You Love As Good As You Look,” “Redneck Girl,” “For All The Wrong Reasons,” “I Love Her Mind,” “I Need More Of You,” “Old Hippie,” “Too Much Is Not Enough,” “Kids Of The Baby Boom,” and “Reggae Cowboy” and “Crazy From The Heart,”…all have lined the corridors of the Bellamy’s musical history and their walls with platinum and gold.
Along the way, Howard and David created a patent on the newly cool “duo” category in country music. In the era of the 2000’s, The Bellamy Brothers hold the record in both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the Country Music Association Awards (CMA) for the most duo nominations. Numerous Grammy nods have also been directed toward the brothers.
Internationally, the story has been the same—though the titles may be different. The Bellamys have released more than two-dozen hit songs outside the U.S. that were never released here. With a sharp eye on the songwriting skills that have been the bedrock of their success, Howard and David concur that their career is unique in their international finesse for matching their songs to the market.
“For the international releases, you have to have a strong melody,” notes David. “The lyric is very important, but internationally the melody is something fans can lock into, even if they can’t understand the lyrics.” Howard and David continue to perform and film TV specials in Europe and around the world.
These days when the subject turns to touring, The Bellamys are showing a new generation of country music how it’s done. “We’re old road dogs,” grins Howard when asked about the motivation behind the brothers 200 plus concert dates each year. Adds David: “Our live draw is bigger than it was in the ‘80’s. I think the same people that grew up with us and with our music in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s obviously have raised a whole new generation of Bellamy fans who started toddling to our music. Now they’re turning up at our concerts as college kids, who are really turned on and tuned in to us and our music….it’s a great feeling.”
On the infrequent off days from the road, Howard and David head the bus back to their 150-acre family ranch in Darby, Florida just north of Tampa. A working ranch, the spread consists of Purebred Charlois cattle and quarter horses. Amid a land lush with fruit trees, ancient oaks and crepe myrtles, three generation of the Bellamy family, headed by David and Howard’s mother, Frances, populate the homes clustered in the family compound.
The Bellamy Brothers latest project is their new album titled '40 Years' is an ambitious project that celebrates their career with 20 of their biggest hits and then adds 20 brand new songs in this 2 cd anniversary collection.

We celebrate Women in Music with compositions and performances by women. Brahms’s mountain of a piano concerto was caught up in his relationship with Clara and Robert Schumann. Clara was one of the great pianists of her time, and she performed this piece along with many others during her career. Amy Zanrosso, one of our favourite and regular soloists, returns to the Kootenays to perform Brahms’ masterwork. We welcome Kamloops soprano Rachel Casponi to sing Barber’s evocative Knoxville, depicting life in the city’s soft summer. Jennifer Higdon’s Dance Card is an exuberant work which expresses her appreciation for the work required by string players to create beautiful performances. We honour the life of BC composer Jocelyn Morlock with her ode to the natural world.

Big Ticket Plus: $25
Big Ticket: $29

One man with lots of questions. Three huge knitted tapestries. A fifteen-year journey to look for answers, with lots of funny, moving life experiences along the way.
The Knitting Pilgrim
Kirk Dunn, an actor, writer and internationally renowned knitter, is fascinated by the many ways in which knitting can bring people together and help them see eye to eye. In this multi-platform world, he uses original, out-of-the-box knitting and his unique perspective in a variety of ways: as visual art to create conversation around interfaith empathy (see his installation, “Stitched Glass”) and homophobia; as the foundation for theatre that uses knitting to tackle anti-Semitism and Islamophobia (book his one-man show, “The Knitting Pilgrim,” or the upcoming WWII play “Spycraft” about a woman who spies on the Nazis by knitting code into ordinary garments); hosts a podcast and digital series to enter into gentle, curious conversation with people of other faiths to understand their point of view (check out “The Knitting Pilgrim Talks” on YouTube or Spotify); designs patterns that feature an artist’s palette of rich colours (see his original patterns available on Ravelry); and gives workshops in improv on the needle, colourwork, and knitting and spirituality, to share the amazing transformation this humble craft can offer individuals and communities. Kirk looks for common ground to knit people together through empathy, understanding and art.
Show Synopsis:
The Knitting Pilgrim is a one-hour, one-man interdisciplinary show, followed by a 30-45 min talkback. The audience
meets Kirk Dunn as he knits in front of three large projection screens. He welcomes the audience and suggests he
teach them how to knit – a gentle entry into a conversation about Kirk’s life as a churchgoer, actor and knitter, and
how, prompted by the tragedy of 9/11, he found himself knitting a triptych of tapestries, designed in the style of
stained-glass windows, which explore the commonalities and conflicts of the Abrahamic faiths.
On stage are baskets of yarn and needles so the audience can knit along if they like. Kirk tells them that he will use all
of the pieces which the audience knit during the tour into a new piece of art to represent people knitted together.
As Kirk’s performance builds, the screens are used for image and video projection, including interviews with Christian,
Muslim and Jewish consultants who add their perspectives to his journey. At times comedic, at times soulful and spiritual, but never preachy, Kirk intertwines stories of the rise of xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, fear of ‘the other,’ and how social media pours gasoline on the fire.
He also talks about the trials and tribulations of what ended up being a 15-year journey completing the tapestries, his doubt about his art, and questioning his right to address the interfaith issues which plague the world. At the end of the show, Kirk has—through his humble manner of making no pronouncements and only asking questions—knitted together the strands of his stories to demonstrate that the Abrahamic faiths have more in common than not, and that they all strive for the same thing: peace.
After the faith leaders on the screens wish the audience Peace, Shalom and Assalamu alaikum, Kirk pulls down the screens to reveal the magnificent knitted tapestries, unlike anything else in the world. He invites the audience to come close, take a look, and engage in conversation, not just now, but moving forward, with peace and empathy, in their own lives.

The Stampeders… One More Time
April 22nd at 7:30 pm
Tickets: $96
About the Show:
THE STAMPEDERS .... One More Time
‘They're on their way, to the city lights’ ... and, THE predominant Canadian Rock ‘n’ Roll band of the 1970s – The Stampeders – are bringing along all their classic hits: Wild Eyes, Carry Me, Oh My Lady, Devil You, Ramona, Minstrel Gypsy, Hit the Road Jack and, of course, the quintessential Canadian – and Hall of Fame – song, Sweet City Woman! A veritable soundtrack to a whole generation that will ‘carry you home’ ... maybe not to Birmingham ... but back to a time of tie-dyed t-shirts and elevator shoes, 15¢ coffee and homemade apple pie, dating and dreaming ... By the time The Stampeders get to the first chorus of the first song, everyone will be singing along.
No seventies group represented Canada's musical identity to the world like The Stampeders. A quick look at Canada's music scene from 1971 until 1976 confirms The Stampeders were truly the country's international musical ambassadors, touring more extensively in Canada and overseas than any other Canadian group during that time. In 1977 the trio: Rich Dodson (lead guitar), Kim Berly (drums) and Ronnie King (bass) parted company but reunited, fittingly at the Calgary Stampede, 15 years later in 1992. Since then they’ve been recognized by SOCAN for their Lifetime Achievement, been inducted into the SOCAN Songwriters Hall of Fame on five occasions and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame for their 1971 seminal hit Sweet City Woman.
In March 2024, just before the Ontario leg of this tour, Ronnie King passed away. In the final days, while in palliative care, he insisted that his band mates carry on. Dave Chabot, renowned bassist and long time friend of the band, who was already scheduled to be on the tour to sit in for Ronnie as needed, was the obvious choice. Still, Ronnie remains a presence at every show, as Rich and Kim share stories from 50plus years on the road and pay tribute with a retrospective video.
The enduring musical legacy of The Stampeders ... One More Time ... 'better catch a noon train, better get there for a rock 'n' rolling good time!’
