Get to know Candice:

I’m supposed to write about me, so this is me!!

I’m a 45 year old Mum of 6+ (6 are mine by birth, others are mine by happenstance and choice! I love my bonus kids just as fiercely, never doubt that!)  I’ve been married 23 years to an amazing man who is my perfect match in almost every way!  I’m a prairie girl born and raised but moved to the mountains 7 years ago and have never looked back. 

I have always loved pushing my body to its limits, and never has that been easier than in this little mountain city; hiking, mountain biking, and snowboarding are some of my new favourite activities. 

I have always loved to dance, whether it’s teaching class, taking class, alone in my kitchen, or performing for an audience, it’s all the same!!

 I especially love the theatre; onstage, back stage, or watching from the front of stage!  The theatre feel likes home and I feel so very blessed to have passed on that love to my children! 

In what little free time I have I enjoy sewing, reading, crocheting, and puttering around in my garden.  

I love ice cream blizzards after snowboarding, and watermelon after lifting. I love to stay up late watching cheesy romcoms with my daughters, or brain puzzling sci-fi with my husband.  I love getting lost in the forest with my dog, paddle boarding while the sun goes down, or having deep, meaningful conversations with friends old and new; none of this small talk business for me! I am a champion of the underdog, a collector of lost souls, and as I newly find my way around in the Asexual Community, am somewhat of a lost soul myself I guess! 

None of these things really define me though.  They are just a part of the whole.  I am defined by how I treat others, by the love I put out into the world, the goodness I try to spread, my loyalty to those I love.  “Fisk’s are inclusive” has been our family motto for almost 2 decades and I strive every day to make sure that I live up to that and to instil it in all my children- both natural and bonus.  

I believe in always learning and growing as an individual.  I believe that change is something to strive for and is what helps you continue to be your authentic self everyday.  I believe there is nothing more beautiful than a soul who can stand proudly and say “This is Me”.  

So This is me.  In all my authenticity.  A proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
