A Celebration of the Music of John Prine
Acclaimed West Coast musicians celebrate John Prine’s extraordinary songbook with warmth, humour and plenty of heart.
Celebrate the songs and stories of one of the most beloved songwriters of our time.
In Spite of Ourselves brings together acclaimed West Coast musicians Doug Cox, Tom and Kalissa Landa, and Steve Mitchell for an affectionate and deeply entertaining tribute to John Prine.
With uncommon wit, tenderness and insight, Prine found the extraordinary in everyday life. His songs could make us laugh at human absurdity one moment and quietly break our hearts the next. From “Angel from Montgomery” and “Hello in There” to “Paradise,” “Sam Stone” and the irresistible title duet, his music continues to connect across generations.
More than a collection of familiar songs, this concert celebrates the humour, humanity and masterful storytelling that made John Prine a songwriter’s songwriter. Expect exceptional musicianship, personal stories and an evening filled with laughter, reflection and songs you will want to sing all the way home.
