Tickets identified as being purchased for resale may be cancelled and refunded without advance notice by Key City Theatre at its sole discretion. Entry is not guaranteed for tickets purchased through unauthorized sellers.

Authorized Ticket Sales
Tickets for Key City Theatre events are valid only if purchased through:
- The Key City Theatre Box Office, in person or by phone
- The Key City Theatre website
- An authorized ticketing partner, as listed on our website
Tickets purchased from unauthorized third-party sources, for example StubHub, Viagogo, Kijiji or Craigslist, are not guaranteed to be valid and may be cancelled without advance notice.
This is consistent with practices at leading Canadian venues, including Massey Hall and Arts Commons, which caution that tickets from unauthorized sources may be invalid, counterfeit, or refused at entry.
Resale of Tickets
Under the Ticket Sales Act, reselling tickets above face value is only legal if the seller offers a money-back guarantee and the ticket remains valid for entry.
Regardless of this legal allowance, Key City Theatre maintains the right to prohibit resale above face value and to cancel tickets that are resold or offered for resale in violation of our terms.
This means that even if a resale includes a money-back guarantee, we may still cancel the ticket if it is listed or sold at an inflated price through unauthorized means.
Ticket Use and Transfer
We understand that sometimes plans change. Patrons may transfer tickets to another individual at face value, for example giving a ticket to a friend or family member, or return tickets to the Box Office for refund or resale, depending on our standard return policy.
Tickets must not be resold for profit, offered through online marketplaces without permission, or used for promotional or commercial purposes without written consent.
Suspicious Activity and Enforcement
Key City Theatre actively monitors ticket purchases and may investigate patterns that suggest high-volume buying using multiple accounts or identities, use of bots or automated purchasing software, or resale listings for inflated prices on third-party websites.
We reserve the right to cancel and refund suspicious orders, void tickets being resold at inflated prices, and refuse entry to individuals presenting invalid or cancelled tickets.
These enforcement measures are aligned with industry standards and exist to protect fair access for our audience.

Where should I buy tickets for Key City Theatre shows?
Only purchase tickets directly through our website, our Box Office at 250-426-7006, or any ticketing partner listed on our website. Our official online ticketing runs through purchase.keycitytheatre.com.
What happens if I buy from a resale site like StubHub or Viagogo?
These are not authorized sellers. While BC law allows resale with a money-back guarantee, Key City Theatre does not guarantee the validity of tickets purchased through third-party platforms. Your ticket may be cancelled or refused at the door.
How do you spot resellers?
We monitor sales for suspicious activity: bulk orders, out-of-province addresses, duplicate accounts, and resale listings. If we suspect a ticket was purchased for resale, we may cancel and refund it to protect fair access.
Can I sell my ticket if I cannot attend?
If you need to transfer a ticket to a friend or family member, we encourage you to do so privately and at face value. Resale above the original price is not permitted through our Box Office and may violate our terms.
How do I report a scalper?
